Tigerstyle return from Miami this week, where they
were invited to DJ at
one of the most exclusive nights. On the eve of the opening of
the Latin
Billboards Awards conference they performed at an exclusive V.I.P.
afterparty for artists & executives from the Machete Music
label.
Machete Music is a subsiduary of Universal, and is
the biggest
Reggaeton/Latin Urban music label in the States. This is the
same label
which Tigerstyle remixed previous Reggaeton hits "Rakata",
& "El tiburon"
for.
The party showcased Machete's flagship artists: Don
Omar & Wisin Yandel,
and also some new upcoming talent on the label, like artist Notch,
and Latin
HipHop group Trez Coronas. Artists, including Tigerstyle, all
entered the
venue by red carpet, doing short interviews and photo shots for
leading
Latin TV channels and magazines.
The afterparty was a private affair for all the artists
and label
executives. Imagine a room full of Reggaeton's elite, all dancing
to
Bhangra!! Don Omar, Wisin Yandel, Luny Tunes, Hector, MVP, Micheal
Stuart,
lawyers, label bosses, video models, the list goes on.....
There is a huge movement in the States, with Latin
artists making their
presence be known. As ambassadors of Desi, Tigerstyle have definitely
created a buzz with the Latin urban artists/execs with their
brand of progressive
BHANGRA!!!!

JINX, duo Dubz and Jogi, hail from Rochdale, Manchester and have
been on
the DJ circuit for over 5 years. Their aim - to bring a fresh,
new & diverse
sound to the Asian music scene. The sound - they describe as
British Asian
music, fused with urban and experimental made for all ages and
for everyone to
enjoy. The end product - their debut album Culture Shock.
Culture Shock, released on the independent Asian Flavaz label,
has a little
something for everyone with bhangra bangers, R&B anthems,
Bollywood vibes and
Pakistani Indian Pop, whilst at the same time featuring some
amazing
vocalists including Sohail Salamat and Bila Sahota. The range
on the album is a
result of their various musical influences which range from Oasis
to Mary J
Blige and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
The first track to be taken off the album, Akhiyan Udeek Diyan,
is jinx’s
version of the famous original by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan track
and has already
been receiving great feedback. Jogi explains, “it’s
a song on the album which
holds a lot of sentimental value for us, not only was it the
first song that
produced but is also sang initially by the great Nusrat Fateh
Ali Khan
someone who we admire and respect the utmost. The idea of converting
a famous well
known qawalli into modern day bhangra appealed to us greatly
We tried giving
the song a UK music style by adding urban influenced music along
with
various Indian sounds.”
The current videos which are being heavily rotated on the Asian
channels are
Akhiyan and the final track on their album, Rang to which Don
D lends his
vocals and features a heavy bass line and infectious drum beats,
not to
mention a melodious musical rift throughout. Rang has one intention,
and that is to
get you on the dance floor and singing along. Dubz says, “We
wanted to make
a song that would be played in every club, car, home etc. With
the influences
of various styles of music we came up with the idea for Rang.”
Other tracks on the album include the contemporary Show You -
an R&B number
with an Arabic influence, Nachley - a more traditional number
with a modern
interpretation, Mitrade - simply made to make you want to dance,
Shisha Da
Lenga (which means Mirrored Dress) - which features bold Punjabi
lyrics, Yaad -
a more emotional track and Gal Sun - a soulful song of which
the lyrics and
melody were co-written by Jinx and looks likely to be the next
single with a
video being shot soon.
The video’s for Akhiyan Udeek Diyan and Rang are currently
rotating on the
Asian music channels. Culture Shock is released via the Asian
Flavaz album and
is available to purchase on Monday 17th April 2006. |

Livin It Up
Following the huge success of his last release 'All Due Respect'
in late 2004, Notorious JATT is back with his new album entitled
'Livin It Up'. The album has been 15 months in the making, and
contains 11 completely fresh new songs.
The album features the future monster anthem in 'Aish' which
is sang by Preet Mahadipuria (of Pegg, Hoi Hoi, fame) feat. Lightnin
MC.
It also has a old skool duet by Punjab’s very own godfather
Kuldeep Manak’s nephews Pargat Khan and Jagdev Khan, who
sing the pure desi and deep meaningful song ‘Marrey Dil
Vaaliyan De’.
A further gem in this album is the smooth slow jam ‘Callege’,
sang by the one of the most highly acclaimed sad song singers
in the Punjab in recent times, Hardev Mahinangal.
‘Livin It Up’ is set for release in the UK on Friday
April 14th 2006 on Silverbak Records.
It is also due for release in the Indian subcontinent on Speed
Records during summer 2006, and in North America and Canada on
Planet Records (TBC).

within the next two weeks.the video was shot in india by two
australian directors. the directors - Sid and Simon have worked
on such massive projects as the Matrix and the Lord of The Rings

Bob Mann - Illicit Substance
This producer/singer has been in the music industry from a very
young age. He has worked with some of the biggest artists in
the bhangra industry both on stage and in the studio. Starting
out as a DJ with one of the biggest music companies in Canada,
Bob got his foot in the door and took his first crack at production
at the age of 16 with his brother Paul, releasing "One &
Only", Kuldip Manak Remixes. After the success of that release,
Bob laid low to persue his audio engineering diploma so he could
have full control in the studio. Now after being absent from
the scene and ghost producing for a while, Bob Mann is ready
to unleash his solo production debut called, "Illicit Substance".
