Mark is one of the few personalities to have stayed at the cutting-edge of British-Asian music since the early 90’s.

Having successfully traversed pioneering roles as Club DJ, Radio Presenter, Journalist, Music Producer and Promoter.

Few people have been as well-placed to earn the title ‘Asian Music Specialist’.

Award winning DJ Markie Mark also co presents on BBC’s 1Xtra since its launch in 2002 as part of The Panjabi Hit Squad.

His unlikely enthusiasm for Asian music began at school in Hounslow, West London, where he started his immersion in Asian music and youth culture.

His background includes editor of ‘Apna Beat’, the pioneering youth magazine at the time.

Mark formed a sound-system called Maximum NRG who went on to become the most successful Asian club DJ’s of the 90’s and launched the first ever regular UK Asian club night,  ‘Bombay Jungle’.

Mark moved into radio and music full time in 2000, making his debut on local radio.  In 2001

Mark formed Panjabi Hit Squad with the aim of establishing a collective who would represent the soundtrack to the British-Asian streets.

The group worked with Def Jam UK, leading to remixes for Ashanti, Mariah Carey, Beenie Man and various compilation albums.
