BBC Asian Network embarks on its special programming this weekend to mark the beginning of Eid.
On Sunday (20 September) Saima Amreen presents a special Eid Mirpuri show from 7 – 9pm and she’ll be joined by Pakistani pop star, Abrar Ul Haq.The King of Pakistani Pop will be talking about his faith and how it has affected his life and most importantly, his music.
Asian Network’s very own Eid Party will be hosted by Noreen on Tuesday 22nd September from 5 – 8pm. The jam packed show will include special guests Outlandish who will be co-hosting via a live link up from Denmark. The band, who recently performed on the BBC Asian Network Main stage at London Mela will be taking calls from listeners. In addition, singer and songwriter Sami Yusuf performs a rare live session.
The show also features Tommy Sandhu’s diary on the festivities from a non Muslim perspective. The Asian Network presenter documents his thoughts as he joins in for the final day of fasting before taking to the streets and marking 'Chand Raat' (the sighting of the moon) as celebrations for Eid begins.
Other famous personalities from the music, showbiz and Bollywood world will be dropping by and sending their Eid greetings to listeners.
